Log to Log

Log to Log

When using video-editing PC software, some users may want to not only convert color tones but also perform color grading. Canon recommends using a “Log to Log” LUT, which converts the color tones and contrast of Canon Log 2 / Canon Log 3 data while preserving it as Log data, so the Log data can be used for color grading in a later process. The user can perform color grading in the same way as with normal Log data. Depending on the conditions of use, this can be done using CMT LUTs, or by using the LUT “Canon Log 2 / Canon Log 3 to Canon 709”. If you want to convert only the color tones and immediately generate a BT.709 movie, Canon recommends using the “Log to 709” LUT.

  • * LUT for converting CMT (Canon Monitor Transform) or Canon Log 2 / Log 3 to Canon 709 are available on the Canon’s website. Please check there for downloads.
